Rain and kitten stuff
Dec 10th
So far we had one day with slick roads – Saturday – we were hit with a whooping one inch or so of snow. Just enough to be irritating and not deep enough to play in.
Since last night we have been hit with rain. Snow is history.
The kitten is growing and I guess she thinks that we are scratch toys or something. Hubby and I have many scratch marks on us; he even is sporting some bite marks. This little furball lashes out when she is not getting her way.
She is now our room mate and yes, she hogs the middle of the bed. I frequently wake up in the middle of the night with this little ball of fur snuggled up to the small of my back where she has managed to push up my night shirt so that she is flush against my skin. And of course if I don’t get up as early as she would like to get her breakfast, she does the ‘stalk the toes under the blankets and pounce’ routine. Or she does some sort of weird marathon run on the bed that makes the bell on her collar really jangle, yes it is enough to wake you out of a dead sleep. And while you are making her food dish up she sits there and yowls at you; the youngest one says that it sounds as if she is dying.
The best is when she is settling down and snuggles in real close and starts to purr. She sounds like a Harley – truly – that is no joke. Sure gonna miss her if she ever moves out.
An Award??

Wow, somebody gave me an award!! I have known about it for awhile, but since it came at a time when I was not in a writing way, I have left it for now.
I am deeply honored that someone thinks enough of my blog to give me an award.

Meet Our Newest Family Member
Nov 30th
Just wanted to do a quick one and let you see a picture of our newest family member.
Our oldest one just got a kitten. One of our friends had a cat that had kittens and since she has been wanting one, they brought it down when they came to spend Thanksgiving with us. She had picked her out right before Halloween; we had to wait for her to be old enough to leave her momma.
Here is a picture of Zonia (Zoe-nyah) or just Zo for short.

Seems the little furball likes to play with straws and bits of paper. Her favorite place to sleep, so far, is on the top of my boobs with her head tucked under my chin. She likes to ride on my shoulder while I walk around the house. Can’t get too attached though, when the oldest gets her own place the cat goes with her. Oh well……
Giving……….
Nov 25th
I know, I know, I haven’t written in like forever or something.
Sorry.
Been sick, hubby was sick/still sickish, lots of stuff going on…. yadah, yadah, yadah………
Found this while out surfing around today and since Christmas is only a whole, whopping month away I thought that it was time to at least post something about the coming season. Yes, I missed posting on hubby’s birthday (11/22) but we were enjoying it as a family and he did have a happy one!! Thanks to all who sent him cards; he enjoyed being remembered.
Anyway, back to the subject on hand. Watch the video and if it doesn’t inspire you than you must have a stone cold heart.
We participated in delivering food to people on Sunday. One of our many doctors heads up a food drive and planned to give to 400 families in our area that were in need. Last week we hadn’t yet met the food goal for 350 so I don’t know on Sunday how many there were to deliver to, I only know that we showed up to do our part.
The last time I passed out food to the truly homeless was back when my oldest (who is 22+) was a baby of 3 & 1/2+. We had gone down to Atlanta to visit family for the holidays and I was assigned the task of taking my nephew to join his church youth group to pass out food to the homeless and poor. I was amazed when there that just a block or two away from the beautiful downtown area were some of the poorest areas of that city. We passed out gloves and sandwiches to the homeless under the freeway overpasses. We passed out groceries and gloves to the ones that answered their doors.
Then I went home very humbled by those people who were surviving on so little when we had been blessed with so much.
Pardon Me While I Laugh Till I Puke…….
Nov 1st
One of my friends sent me this and I just had one of the best laughs I have had lately. The subject matter isn’t a laughing matter for some – my point is why don’t you just answer the question???
Was the question that hard???????
And if that doesn’t give you enough food for thought fodder than watch this one and listen to how often the speech changes to fit the climate of the voters.
And if you can handle reading a 236 page book with an additional 54 pages of info and documentation BEFORE the election than I would suggest you read “The Case Against Barack Obama” by David Freddoso. If you still want to vote for this clown after reading that, than may God save us all.
I really wish that Ron Paul was still on the ballot!!
Ought to be interesting
Aug 29th
In case you have been buried in cave for the last few minutes (or hours – depending on what time you are reading this) it was just announced that McCain has chosen Alaska governor Sarah Palin for his running mate.
Hmmm what a choice – vote for the first black president or vote for the first female VP.
I know who I am not voting for (more on that later)…….
Oh, say can you see??
Aug 2nd
Yes I can!! Thank you very much. My new lenses came in and were installed in the frames and now I can see to drive, to read, to eat, to write…………. Oh happy day!! Also, I thought that I should write and let people know that I can see again as I am now receiving email in quite a large font from some; guess they think that I am about blind………..
So this was a just a quick one to let you know that I am still alive and as a bonus I can now see everything clearly!!
It Doesn’t Seem Like……………
Jul 28th
That’s right, it doesn’t seem like 8 years!!
8 years ago today found sweet hubby and I becoming husband and wife. Funny how fast these years have flown, with nary a dull moment to be had. We have proved to each other that we can be counted on during sickness and health and richer and poorer, in good times and bad and we do alright with happy, funny and sad.
Ok, enough of the bad poetry. Today I received a real sweet card that sweet hubby made for me on the computer. It contained one of his poems. He also managed to get me a cookbook, two movies and the first season of one of our favorite shows. The girls gave us a nice card with a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant and one for two movie tickets so that we can enjoy a night out. The little one even baked us a batch of brownies while we were at the doctors’ today. We received a few gifts of money from other family members which we are using toward the purchase of a Wii. (We figure a Wii will give us some exercise that won’t outright kill us from the beginning! Ya know being mainly couch potatoes and all)
And now we are working on our 9th year!!
Happy Anniversary Baby!!
Farewell to a Good Man
Jul 25th
Today we mourn the passing of Randy Pausch, the Carnegie Mellon University computer science professor who has been battling pancreatic cancer since being diagnosed in September of 2006.
I received an email earlier this year about him, after he appeared on Oprah, and the last lecture that he had given at the university. You can find that very moving lecture at Randy Pausch as well as a link to his own blog page. I listened to all 76 minutes of that lecture and it gave me much to think about as I am sure it will you.
To his family, wife Jai, sons Dylan and Logan and daughter, Chloe; my deepest sympathies. To Randy, may you rest in peace knowing that you have left an awesome legacy for your children and that you touched so many with your last lecture.
