There is a certain little furface that is a BIT upset with me since I decided to spend one night away from home; and she has been none to subtle in showing her displeasure at my absence.
Since I have returned home I have been bitten (then licked), scratched, snubbed, me-owed at, jumped on, had my clothes chewed on, suitcase clawed and generally been ignored whenever I have tried to pet little Zo. She is none to happy that her human (not the owner – just one of her favorites) had the nerve to leave her at home.
Have you ever had a kitten just glare at you? And you just know that if that kitten could talk she would make a sailor blush as she told you off!!
Yes, Gentle Readers, that is what I am dealing with right now. Perhaps that is why I am sitting here typing in the wee hours of the day instead of being upstairs in my comfy bed with a glaring kitten sitting by my side.
(The look is rather un-nerving as it makes me feel like I may be pounced on and chewed while sleeping)
Well, I am thinking that I could probably write every day and talk about nothing except Zo.
She has many little quirks and habits that make her an interesting pet.
A few days ago she would wait patiently till the alarm clock would ring and after I slapped the snooze button would proceed to bounce around on my pillow, which is one of those husk ones that were popular a decade ago, making it rustle till I finally would give up the idea of any further sleep and get out of bed to go feed her.
Today she added a new trick to her get me out of bed repertoire. And did it way before the alarm clock was even set to ring. This one involves her going under the covers and going down to my rear where she then proceeds to pummel me with her paws and nip at me till I move. After throwing her out of bed numerous times, I gave up and came downstairs to give her breakfast. (her ultimate goal)
Now as I type this she is waiting to pounce up on my lap where she then will try to help me type. I think that I just may be her favorite human in the house.
And since I am up I am pondering which of the many tasks that need to get done will I try to tackle. Should I suit up and go remove the rest of the snow from the driveway?? Though we didn’t get as much as we were hit with on Wed. (7 inches) the 4 or 5 that we did get were covered by that nice freezing rain – that does not make it easy for snowblowing. Maybe I should just stay in the house and do those Chrstmas cards that I have put off doing for the last couple of weeks. Or how about those cookies that sweet hubby says we should be baking??
I know that putting up the tree has been temporarily scheduled by the girls for this afternoon. Yes, I was waiting till our church picked up the organ that we were donating to them as it sits where we usually put the tree; but we can’t afford to wait any longer and hope to get it all done by Christmas. (Which is only 5 days away and no, we are not done shopping yet)
Ah, decisions, decisions, decisions…………… guess I will go see if sweet hubby has woken up enough to help make some.
So far we had one day with slick roads – Saturday – we were hit with a whooping one inch or so of snow. Just enough to be irritating and not deep enough to play in.
Since last night we have been hit with rain. Snow is history.
The kitten is growing and I guess she thinks that we are scratch toys or something. Hubby and I have many scratch marks on us; he even is sporting some bite marks. This little furball lashes out when she is not getting her way.
She is now our room mate and yes, she hogs the middle of the bed. I frequently wake up in the middle of the night with this little ball of fur snuggled up to the small of my back where she has managed to push up my night shirt so that she is flush against my skin. And of course if I don’t get up as early as she would like to get her breakfast, she does the ‘stalk the toes under the blankets and pounce’ routine. Or she does some sort of weird marathon run on the bed that makes the bell on her collar really jangle, yes it is enough to wake you out of a dead sleep. And while you are making her food dish up she sits there and yowls at you; the youngest one says that it sounds as if she is dying.
The best is when she is settling down and snuggles in real close and starts to purr. She sounds like a Harley – truly – that is no joke. Sure gonna miss her if she ever moves out.
Just wanted to do a quick one and let you see a picture of our newest family member.
Our oldest one just got a kitten. One of our friends had a cat that had kittens and since she has been wanting one, they brought it down when they came to spend Thanksgiving with us. She had picked her out right before Halloween; we had to wait for her to be old enough to leave her momma.
Here is a picture of Zonia (Zoe-nyah) or just Zo for short.
Seems the little furball likes to play with straws and bits of paper. Her favorite place to sleep, so far, is on the top of my boobs with her head tucked under my chin. She likes to ride on my shoulder while I walk around the house. Can’t get too attached though, when the oldest gets her own place the cat goes with her. Oh well……
